OBITUARY
Mrs. Ruby Christina White was born April 1, 1896 to Sarah E. (Sallie) and Lewis Nuzman on the farm west of Soldier where she lived for most of her 82 years. She passed away in the Holton hospital September 30 . A lifelong resident of the Soldier community, Ruby received her education in the Soldier schools. After graduating from high school, she worked with the staff of the Soldier Clipper for two years.

She was married March 27, 1918 to Clyde A. White. They shared 57 years of happiness and devotion until his death June 24, 1975. Ruby is survived by their three children; daughter Marjorie White, Santa Monica, California; sons Keith, Soldier and Wayne, Topeka; two granddaughters: Dorinda White, Manhattan; daughter-in-law Marilyn, Topeka; two sisters-in-law; Mrs. Edna Swain, Valley Falls, and Mrs. Lucille White, Holton; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, sister and two brothers preceded Ruby in death.

Deep love for her family, for their home on the farm which her father homesteaded, and for her community made Ruby's life a uniquely fulfilling one. Her love of growing things made gardening an especially rewarding commitment to her. Ruby's membership since 1910 in the Soldier United Methodist church and active participation in the work of the United Methodist Women, helped so much in enabling her to make her faith in God essential to living. Proud that her grandparents were among the early members of this church, and that she could continue to support it as her parents had, she was eagerly awaiting the centennial celebration on October 8.

Ruby enjoyed so much being with her relatives and friends and helping them whenever possible. She was a member of the Harrison Friendship club and of the Soldier Mothers' club and an appreciative participant in senior citizens. Her love and devoted kindness as mother, grandmother, relative and friend will be greatly missed.

Memorial services in Ruby White's honor were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Allen Baumgartner in the United Methodist church at Soldier Tuesday morning, October 3. Music for the service was provided by Mrs. E dith M. Leuthold at the piano and Frances and Earl Cordell singing in duet.

Pallbearers were Jerry Barnes, Cecil Bottom, Larry Holliday, Lawrence Shepherd, Cleo Slocum, and Donald Van Donge. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Harvey Bottom, Alvin Casebeer, Evan Lewelling, Robert Markham , Harry Myer and Lester Wesley. Mrs. Lucille Biester, Mrs. Maleta Bottom, and Mrs. Grace Holliday were the flower ladies.
