John Everett Bohannon was born July 26, 1894 in Holton, Jackson Co., Kansas to William H. and Helen Cruise Bohannon.

He grew to young manhood completing his early schooling in Holton and extending education by attending and graduating from the Campbell College in Holton.

He was united in marriage to Florence E. Backman on the 28th of February 1921.

To this union they had two children; Robert A. and John E. Bohannon.

He choose farming as his life's occupation. By honest, hard work and wise management he became a successful farmer and stockman. He retired from the farm in 1966.

He was a faithful member of the First Christian church in Holton where he at one time served as deacon.

He served from 1938 to 1945 as a trustee of Liberty Township of Jackson County. His civic mind led him to serve on the Pleasant Grove school board.
