Additional Info: Arthur Scott Nelson was born at the family home near Circleville, December 19, 1881. His boyhood days were spent on the farm until he was ten years old, when he moved with his parents to Iowa, where they remained four years. He attended the common school of this county and was graduated at the age of sixteen. He spent two years in the Kingman High School at Kingman, Kansas, from which he graduated with honor. He then moved to Wallace county, where he had the care of a ranch for two years. After that he entered the Topeka Business college, from which he graduated at the age of twenty-one. He spent one year in the employ of Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe in their offices at Topeka and Chicago. In 1905 he entered the employ of the Farmer's State Bank of Circleville. After one year spent as bookkeeper he was made assistant cashier. About a year ago failing health compelled him to give up his duties in the bank and seek open air and sunshine. while in Topeka he united with the Congregational church and was a devoted member of the Y M.C A. He was a member of the Circleville Lodge No. 20, A.F.&A.M. ... He attained the "Royal Secret" of the 32nd degree. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Modern Woodman of America. He was married to Miss Inez Nuzman, of Circleville, February, 1909. One daughter was born to them, Mary Scott, now sixteen months old. On July 2, of last year, the family left for California in hope of regaining his health. He returned from California February 23, at noon, and at that hour on April 23,, he close his eyes. At the time of his death he was 29 years, 4 months, 4 days. He leaves a devoted young wife, and infant daughter, his loving parents, a brother Guy, two sisters, Mrs. Colia Beighter and Miss Bernice Nelson. His body now rest in a beautiful spot in the cemetery at Circleville, Kansas. The funeral service were held at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Amos Nelson. He died of Tuberculosis.
