Scott Enos Nuzman, son of F.C. and Mary Jane Nuzman, was born July 3, 1880 at Circleville, Kansas and has lived his entire life of 81 years and 19 days in the Circleville community. He received his education in the Circleville school and graduated from High school with the class of 1898.
Only a few weeks ago, another of his classmates answered the last roll call to The Great Teacher.
Scott attended Baker University at Baldwin, Kansas for two years.
After the death of his parents, he definitely chose farming as his life work. About 1920, he bought the farm southeast of Circleville which place was his home the remainder of his life.
He built a comfortable cottage and it was to this home, he brought his bride, May McKeever to whom he was married September 20, 1926. Their home was never blessed with children but they gave hospitality and loving care to a young lad, Billy Cook, for four years. When his parents moved to Washington, he accompanied them, but his home life with Scott and May Nuzman has never been forgotten.
Scott was a member of Circleville Masonic Lodge A. F. & A. M., No. 20, and his wide circle of friends was numbered by all who knew him.
His illness was of long duration, but he was patient and uncomplaining. A friendly greeting and a cheery smile welcomed all who came to call. After months of suffering, he passed away Saturday afternoon, July 22nd, at the Holton Hospital.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews besides his loving wife May of the home, whose devotion and constant care will ever be a comfort to her in her loneliness.
Funeral services were held at the Mercer Funeral Home on Monday, July 24, at 2 p.m. Reverend Otis Bussart officiated.
Organ music was furnished by Mrs. Charles Haag.
Honorary pallbearers were Forrest Holt, John Wilkerson, Don Larrison, Harry Wilkerson, Joe Dick, and Russell Slimmer.
Active pallbearers were Charles Lewis, Walter Pool, Robert Fernkopf, Wilbur Anderson, Marlin Johnson, and John Jackman.
Those assisting with the flowers were Mrs. Walter Pool, Mrs Clarence Jackman, Mrs. Harry Wilkerson and Mrs. George Morris.
Interment was in the Holton Cemetery.
