Brother-in-law of Governor Allen Was Victim of Flu-Pneumonia.
A. D. Fairley, former state bank examiner and brother-in-law of Gov. Henry J. Allen, died Sunday in Kansas City of influenza-pneumonia. Governor Allen was at his relative's bedside and returned to Topeka Sunday night.
Until a year ago Fairley was a banker at Holton. He moved to Kansas City to accept a position as auditor of the Federal Reserve bank.
Fairley was born forty-nine years ago in Brooklyn, New York . He moved to Holton with his parents when he was a boy. During J.N. Dooley's administration as bank state commissioner he was appointed bank examier. Besides a widow, two children survive. Funeral services were to be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at Holton.

Alexander D. Fairley was born in Brooklyn, New York, October 7, 1870. He was twelve years old when his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fairley, moved to Holton. Here Al spent most of his life as boy and man. He attended our public school and Campbell University. He was married on April 7, 1904, to Miss Nora Nuzman, of Circleville. To them were born two children, Mary and William...Mr. Fairley spent a few years in Horton as an employee of the First National Bank. Then he came to the State Bank of Holton, where he was a trusted official for a period of seventeen years. In 1909 Governor Stubbs appointed him as state bank examiner...Following his resignation after four years of service from the state department, Mr. Fairley became vice-president of the first National Bank of Holton. Then in the fall of 1918 he was offered and accepted a position as traveling examiner in the Federal Reserve Bank at Kansas City. The Holton Recorder February 12, 1920

He was survived by his wife, 2 children Mary and William, his mother Eliza Fairley; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Fortune and Miss Marion Fairley, all of Holton The Holton Signal, February 12, 1920
