Memorial services for Carl Leroy Alexander have been scheduled for 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Broken Arrow. Pastor Tim Pyles and Scott Keel will Minister. Graveside services will follow at the Stroud Cemetery in Stroud, Oklahoma under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.

Carl Leroy Alexander was born August 17, 1927 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, the son of Carl Burris and Eula Augusta (Dennis) Alexander. He died at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa on Sunday, April 17, 2011. He was 83 years of age.

Carl was a 1943 graduate of Pauls Valley High School. He attended Central State College in Edmond and later graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1949 with a Degree in Education. Carl played Basketball for the late Henry Iba at Oklahoma A&M and was a member of the 1944-45, 1945-46 back to back National Championship team. He was married to the former Miss Peggy Whitmore on February 19, 1950 in Milfay, Oklahoma. Carl taught History and Coached for several years. He worked for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville before going to work for State Farm Insurance Company where he was an agent for some 35 years. Carl and his wife were season ticket holders at Oklahoma State University Basketball games for a number of years. He also enjoyed Fishing, Camping and spending time with his grandchildren. The family requests memorials to the Hope Harbor Children's Home, P.O. Box 74018, Claremore, Ok 74018.



He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Timothy Leroy Alexander; Sister, Neva Sue and Brother, Richard James "Dick" Alexander. (MillieBelle)
