Funeral Services for Dorothy Ruth Wise Bryce have been scheduled for 1:00 PM, Monday, February 18, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Pastor Larry Varvel will officiate. Burial will be at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Broken Arrow under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.

Dorothy Ruth Wise Bryce was born September 21, 1931 in the Rio Grande Valley in the town of
Mercedes, Texas the daughter of Lawrence Albert and Lucille Aleita Wise. She died Thursday, February 14, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital South in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 81 years of age.

Dorothy graduated from Stroud High School in May 1949. She was a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and her last two years in High School she taught students in the ranch area very Saturday at the request of her piano teacher. Her classes were taught in a small country church and some of her students rode to the lessons on horseback from their ranches. She also was active as assistant organist for her teacher at the Stroud Christian Church. After graduation from High School, she attended Oklahoma College for Women before transferring to Oklahoma State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in January 1953. After graduation from OSU, she worked three years as an Executive Secretary in Contracts Administration at Douglas Aircraft Plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dorothy married John H. Bryce on May 26, 1956 in Stroud, Oklahoma. They recently celebrated their 56th anniversary. After her marriage, she was active in Cub Scouts as a Den Mother and in the Scout program when her four sons became Eagle Scouts. Also, she and her husband sponsored the Bryce Bobcats in Little League Baseball for 10 years. Her father, L.A. Wise was the baseball coach. She also worked with her husband in John Bryce Real Estate for twenty years as his secretary. She was active in the Rose Garden Club, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Broken Arrow where she sang in the Chancel Choir, served on the Church Library Committee and was a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Class. She loved spending time with her sons and their families. After their sons had their College Degrees, she and her husband planned and traveled many wonderful trips throughout the world, spanning six continents. Dorothy was an avid reader and loved history.
