American missionary with the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, based in Chinkiang, China.


Son of Rufus Marion Crocker and Isabel (Bisaner) Crocker. Attended Wake Forest University, where the William Elwyn and Jessie Swann Crocker Papers are archived.

Married 1) Bessie Blanche Thackston on July 19, 1899. Together they were parents of Bessie Thackston (Crocker) Shields. Bessie Blanche died days later.

Married 2) Jessie Hill Swann, who was born in Crail, Fifeshire, Scotland. Together they were parents of Margaret Millar Crocker, William Elwyn Crocker Jr., Mary Isabel Crocker, and John Walter Crocker (born after the death of his father).

After William's death Jessie took the surviving children to Scotland to live. The youngest immigrated to the United States and lived there until his death at 91.

Died of heart failure.
