Son of John Griggs, Sr., and Rebecca Brookshire.

*Jesse T. Griggs died of abscess of the lungs on May 15, 1899, in Walnut, Neosho Co., KS. (June 1, 1899: "The Pittsburgh Daily Headlight," from Pittsburg, KS, p. 6) Louisa Eliza Smith Griggs died at age 83, in Walnut Township. (Feb. 18, 1904: "The Pittsburgh Daily Headlight," from Pittsburgh, KS, p. 4)

*Richard T. Colvin was born Jan. 1, 1824 MO, to Garland T. Colvin and Sarah Philips, and died before 1880. *Mrs. Eliza Ann Griggs may have first married William Griggs (1784-1840), son of Minus and Rachel Griggs (The Sparks Quarterly, June 1991). She second married William R. Dillon on Feb. 16, 1840, officiated by Berryman Wren in Boone Co., MO.

*Rebecca Ann (or Jane) Poland was born Apr. 1, 1859, to John J. Poland and first wife, Rebecca Smith Griggs. She lived with Mortimer T. and (sister) Nancy T. Poland Willcoxon in Callaway Co., MO, until she married George S. Tatum on Oct. 28, 1880. They resided in California, until her death on Jul. 26, 1905, at Burnett's Sanitarium in Fresno Co., CA.

*Samantha Carter Griggs married Hilliard Crump on June 15, 1848, officiated by Elder Berryman Wren in Boone Co., MO. She died before his second marriage to Louisa Estes on Jan. 13, 1858, Callaway Co., MO. He was born about 1824, to Joseph Crump and Anna Sapp, and died Jan. 14, 1892, Boone Co., MO. (1880 Census for Cedar Township, Boone Co., MO, Martha Bickets was a 19 yr. old "niece" to remarried Hilliard Crump. Martha was the daughter of Samantha's sister, Paulina Griggs Bicketts. *Delina and William Overstreet had three children living with them in 1860, Montevallo, Vernon Co., MO: (William's sons? - Jonathan abt. 1853, and Able abt. 1854, and their son, George abt. 1869. In the Aug. 29, 1850 Census for District No. 6, Bates Co., MO, William Overstreet (23) VA, lived with wife, Mahala (18)MO, and daughter, Mary (9 months) MO, next door to Delina's sister (Catherine) Mary Willcockson. He also lived next door to James (54) VA and Mary Overstreet (31) TN, and children.
