He and William M. Milby were prospectors who founded Silver City, New Mexico in 1870. Arrived in New Mexico in 1866; early Silver City miner and a town founder. A main street in Silver City, Bullard Canyon in Grant County and peaks in both Arizona and New Mexico were named after him. He was killed by Indians in February of 1871.∼John Bullard was one of the early founders of Silver City. he was killed by the Apache a few years after settling in the area.
