Claude Leon Brewer was born one of nine children to Thomas Jesse and Sadie Howard Brewer on February 26, 1920 in Stigler, Oklahoma.

He worked with his family as sharecroppers growing and picking mostly cotton.

The economic hard times of the Great Depression led him to join the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)at the age of 16.

Claude enlisted in the United States Army in 1939, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served "six years, six months and eight days" and assisted in training three divisions and taking the third in combat; He participated in the battles and campaigns of the Rhineland, Central Europe for which he was awarded two Bronze Stars.

He met and married Ida Rebecca Dodson of Dadeville, MO during his military basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood. Their union produced two children, Claudette in 1943 and Dennis in 1950, and lasted 63 years.

Honorably dischared fom the U.S. Army in 1945, he and his family lived in Dadeville for the next five years, He sought and secured employment with the Bendix Corporation in Kansas City and became a skilled machinest. He enjoyed and took pride in his work for 42 years.

Mr. Brewer attended Raytown Night School in 1965 to earn his High School Equivalency Certificate, a fact we all share pride in.

Claude Leon Brewer was preceded in death by his wife, Ida, in 2004 and his son Dennis in 1959. He joined them on August 24, 2010. He is survived by his loving daughter, Claudette of San Francisco, CA; his two brothers, Calvin Coolidge Brewer of Cypress, TX, and Richard Brewer of Oklahoma City, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the family of his beloved wife, Ida.

Claude was a nice man who could play the steel guitar. He lived a good long life with a sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2010 at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Service was at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers,memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Arrangements were made by: D.W. Newcomer's sons Floral Hills Chapel, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO. 64133.

Claude is buried in plot 107 Space 3, Garden of the Saints, Floral Hills, MO.
