James Hunter Blair was born in Glasgow, Scotland 1 Jan 1810. His father, Bryce R. Blair, died and was buried in Scotland. He came to America in 1837, first to New York where he was engaged in contracting on the public works. His mother, Sally Smith Blair, came to America in 1840. Later he moved to Philadephia, where on 19 Feb 1846, he was married to Sarah Smith, daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Thompson) Smith. The family moved from Pennsylvania in 1870 to Fulton County, Ohio where he farmed. They had 11 children. One baby is buried in Pennsylvania.
James died at the age of 88Y-2M-21D. He is buried in Wauseon Union Cemetery near his wife and some of his children.
