Thelma M. Gwinn, 104, of Springfield, died at 1:30 am, Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Heritage Health in Springfield. She was born January 19, 1908 in Springfield, to George and Addie Wright Gray. She married Walter W. Gwinn on April 16, 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1992. Her parents; one daughter, Virginia Powell; and seven brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Myra (Carl) Orr of Springfield; four grandchildren; four Great Grandchildren; two nephews.
Thelma was a member of St. Patrick's Church. She was a lifelong resident of Springfield and worked as an Elevator Operator for the original Elks Club #158 and for Rolands & Herndons Department Stores. She also worked for Richard Cohen and his wife as a domestic.
Funeral Service: Staab Funeral Home. Burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
