FLOYD, IOWA -- Nettie Marie Wall, age 88, of Floyd, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003 at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa.

Funeral Services for Nettie Wall will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3rd, at the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd. Rev. Paul Phillips, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Nettie Marie Stillion was born October 3, 1914, the daughter of Edward B. and Ada (Herman) Stillion in Wadena. She graduated from Charles City High School, and on July 27, 1941 she married Robert Wall in King County, Wash. Nettie worked as a welder in the Kaiser Shipyard #2 during WWII. She also worked a variety of jobs in the Charles City area. In 1955, Nettie's aunt died, leaving behind a 9 year old son, Jack Dwayne Tynan. Nettie took Jack in her home and raised him as her own. Nettie enjoyed crocheting, tatting, embroidery, knitting, and quilting, making many gifts for her family. Nettie also enjoyed going to Adult Day Care, which was known by her family as "the Club." Nettie was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd.

Nettie is survived and lovingly remembered by her son Jack Tynan and his wife, Judy, of Charles City; her grandchildren: Jack Tynan Jr. and his wife, Kerri, of Charles City, and Julie Tynan of Charles City; her great grandchildren: Nicholas, Samantha, and Brooklyn Tynan, and Jessica and John Anderson, all of Charles City. Nettie is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Dolores Moon and husband Lewis of Rockford, Ill., Bonnie Holtz of Charles City, John J. Meyer and his wife Kris of New Hampton, and Lois Meyer of Floyd.

Nettie was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, two sisters, Hazel Meyer and Katherine Stillion, and a brother Dewey Stillion.

A memorial has been established in Nettie's name.
