Husband of Lettie (nee Hermen) Tynan, who is buried next to him. Two of their sons, Jerald Edward "Jimmy" Tynan and Darrell "Dean" Tynan; a great-grandson, Shane Harman; and daughters-in-law, JoAnn Hartzell (Schultz) Tynan and Lila Crooks (Tynan) (Tynan) (Wall) Dietrich are also buried next to them. One of James and Lettie's daughters, Mary Lou Tynan Sprague, and her husband, Jack D. Sprague, are buried in the Veterans section of this cemetery. One of their grandsons, Kelly Wayne Miller, is buried in another part of this cemetery next to his other grandparents.

CHARLES CITY - Services for James (Jim) Tynan, 76, a former fire chief from 1944 to 1947. who died Sunday afternoon at his home, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hauser Funeral Home; burial in Sunnyside Memory Gardens; survivors include three sons, Leo and Darrell Dean, both of Charles Citv and Jack of New Hampton, four daughters, Mrs. Wallace Washburn of Lyons, Ill., Mrs. Jack Sprague of Charles City, Mrs Larry Luck of Plainfield, and Mrs. Wayne Miller of Kearney. Neb.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Beckwith of Charles City and Mrs. Rose Obermeier of Sunnyvale, Calif.: 23 grand children and one great-grandchild; friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday.
