Colin Francis Devlin January 2, 1971 - July 25, 2013

On January 2, 1971, Colin Francis Devlin was born in Philadelphia, PA to Margaret E. Devlin. In his early years, he was a scholar athlete at Father Judge High School. He led his football team to many victories and received many distinguished awards. He was named Philadelphia Inquirer Athlete of the week and received All-Catholic Honors.

He started working as a dishwasher in high school at Conroy Catering. This experience opened his eyes to the restaurant industry. Colin moved to New York in the late 90s where he quickly found work with a restauranteur, Keith McNally at Pravda and Balthazaar. In early 2001, Colin opened his first restaurant, Dumont. As a restauranteur, he won many culinary awards including the prestigious Michelin Star, and was recently named Zagat's New York City "game changer" in the restaurant industry. Colin was considered a pioneer in the restaurant business. He was given an award by the governor of New York for revitalizing Brooklyn.

Colin was a dedicated and loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and the best friend that anyone could ever ask for. Anybody that was in the room with him felt that they were loved individually. Colin could be described by saying, "Children and dogs love him". That is the finest thing that could be said about anyone, because dogs have a sixth sense about who can be trusted, and children feel in their hearts who love them, and recognize a kindred spirit. Colin would not want us to be overwhelmed with sadness. He was very strong and positive and would always look for the best in any situation. He would want us to do the same. Let's remember him for all of his great qualities and the time we spent with him. We should make sure his memory lives on in all of us, especially his children for as long as we live. He was a great example to all he came in contact with. Let us live this example.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, July 31,at the Church of Saint Luke, 818 Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:30AM with the Rev. Thomas D. McLaughlin as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Devlin Family Cemetery in Saylorsburg. Viewing will be private for the family.
