Rites Set For Miner in Preston
Services have been set for Saturday for Noah Lee Layton, 54, of Route Two Tunnelton, was killed yesterday in a slate fall at the Brookside Mine near Newburg in Preston County. Layton, lifelong resident of the Tunnelton area, was foreman at the mine. Final rites will be held at the Denver Methodist Church near Tunnelton at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. E. C. Clegg officiating.
He was born in Tunnelton September 28, 1909 , son of the late Michael and Almira McVicker Layton.
He was a member of the Denver Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his stepmother, Mrs. Ella Layton; his widow, Helen Louise Layton; one son, Jerry Robert Layton of Tunnelton; three daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Bucklew and Mrs. Patty Marsh, both of Tunnelton and Linda Sue Layton at home; two brothers, Bailey of Terra Alta and Bradley of Tunnelton; five half brothers, Walter, Cecil and Everett all of Tunnelton; Ross of Dallas, W. Va., and Howard of Baltimore; two half sisters, Mrs. Flossie Propst of Wheeling and Mrs. Violet Miller of Kingwood; two step brothers, Dallas of Florida and Roy of Seattle, Wash.; and six grandchildren.
