John C. Boren Died Monday

Last Monday evening at the home of his son occurred the death of John C. Boren from the effect of a paralytic stroke. This was the second attack of this nature, the first one, which occurred two years ago, depriving the aged gentleman of the power of speech and weakening his otherwise robust system to the extent that a second attack proved fatal.

Funeral services were conducted today by Rev. Hughes of Bismarck and interment made in the Menoken cemetery.

Deceased was a Civil War veteran and one of the pioneers of Burleigh county having resided here for over thirty years. A wide circle of friends and acquaintances join in extending their sympathy to the bereaved ones.

An extended obituary will be next week.

Gravesite Details

This grave was unmarked for many years. Originally, it likely had a wooden marker which probably burned in a prairie fire, or was just lost to the ravages of weather and time. In April 2016, a permanent marker was placed by the local Amvets post.
