The community was grieved to hear of the death of Mrs. Edith Walton of Unity, which occurred Tuesday night, April 4, at the Elm City hospital in Waterville. Mrs. Walton was born in Presque Isle, March 15, 1874, the daughter of John and Mary (Pryor) Moran. In 1889, she married Nicholas Walton of Caribou, who survives her.

Those left to mourn her death are the husband; three daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Hemphill of Thorndike, Mrs. Laila Winship of Unity and Pearl Walton of Portland; two sons, Marshall and Roy Walton, both of Unity; ten grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Chandler of Wade; three brothers, Allen, Frank and Herbert Moran, all of Presque Isle; a number of nieces and nephews as well as a wide circle of friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Walton moved to Thorndike 25 years ago and 11 years ago bought the beautiful place across from Unity Trotting Park where they have since resided.

The funeral was held from the home April 7 at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Mr. Glidden officiating. Bearers were nephews Maurice, Philip, William and Merton Reynolds. Two hyms, "When we all get to Heaven" and "Good Night and Good Morning" were sung by Mrs. Bertha Berry and Mrs. Lloyd Tozier. There were many beautiful flowers showing the high esteem in which she was held. Interment was in the Pond Cemetery at Unity.
