HM1 US NAVY - WORLD WAR II, KOREA
Kermit L. Walton, 74, husband of the late Audrey (Witherite) Walton, died on May 31, 1998 at his home in Dixmont. He was born in Unity on February 23, 1924, the son of Thomas Miles and Gladys (Pooler) Walton.

Kermit graduated from Unity High School in 1942. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was an active member of the Dixmont Methodist Church, the Archon Lodge #75 AF & AM of Dixmont, and the Satucket-Pilgrim Royal Arch Chapter in Massachusetts. He was also a member of the Dixmont American Legion Post # 201 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the state.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas M. Walton and his wife Laurie of Glenburn and Steven E. Walton and his wife Pamela of Walpole, NH; three grandchildren, Sara and Stephanie Walton, both of Glenburn and Lucas Walton of Putney, VT; one sister-in-law Clara Walton of Unity; one niece, Sandra Pierce, and her husband Skip of Newburg; one nephew, Robert, and his wife Mary of Montpelier, VT. He will also be remembered by a long time companion, Marguerite Dow of Pittsfield; as well as many other long time friends.

Funeral services were held at 4 pm on Wednesday at the Dixmont United Methodist Church with Pastor, Margo Carmine officiating. Burial was in the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
