Ellis J. Callantine of 1007 W. Babcock died Wednesday at the Veteran's hospital in Fort MacKenzie, Sheridan, Wyoming, where he has been a patient since June with heart trouble. He was born in Pleasantville, Iowa, November 9, 1887, the son of Frank and Lanah Callantine, and came to Montana with his parents when still a small child.

He was a World War veteran, having enlisted March 27, 1917, in Company A of the 163 Infantry. He was awarded the Purple Heart for services in the war, and was discharged at Fort D. A. Russell, Wyoming, June 18, 1919.

Mr. Callantine was married March 15, 1921 to Rachel Gates at Livingston. To this union were born five children all of whom survive, Lorraine, 13, Jason, 11, Ursula, 11, Margaret, 9, and Winifred, 5.

Besides his wife, Mrs. Rachel Callantine and five children he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lanah Callantine, a brother Oran A. Callantine, and a sister Mrs. Effie Thompson, all of Bozeman, J. Oscar Callantine and Harley Callantine, brothers, of Maudlow, a sister Mrs. Lola Rose of Pampa, Texas, a brother, Lester Callantine of Aberdeen, Wash., and Wallace Callantine, a half brother of Helena.

The body is being brought to Bozeman for interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
