Ira M. Dudley, 68, of E. Washington St Road, Springfield, excavating contractor, died at 9 p.m. yesterday at St. John's hospital where he had been a patient for three weeks.
Mr. Dudley had been an excavating contractor in this city for 40 years. Prior to his establishment of the contracting business, he had operated a livery stable and sales barn at 916 E Washington St. He was born Sept 10, 1880, at Bear Creek.
Surviving are his wife, Grace G; two grandsons, Dudley Malone and Jerry Malone, both of Chicago; two nieces, Mrs. Carl Bansbach, Chicago, and Mrs. Otto Rohnan of Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Monsignor J.B. Franz will officiate and burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.
