Civil War Union veteran; he enlisted for as a Private in Company F, 4th Regiment, Delaware Volunteers. He was discharged on May 7, 1864.

He was the son of Daniel Beeby and Elizabeth Taylor who emigrated from Elstow, Bedford, England and came to America on the ship "Fame" in 1832. They settled in Thornbury township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania where Daniel was born and raised. Prior to enlisting, he was a carpenter in Thornbury township. He married Rachel Otley Darlington on February 24, 1859, in Philadelphia. He was a resident of Philadelphia when he enlisted on August 22, 1862.
