English Folk Figure. He was a centenarian who was supposed to have lived 152 years. He was said to have been born circa 1483. In 1635 Thomas Howard, earl of Arundel visited old Parr and brought him to London to meet Charles I. But the change in food and environment apparently affected Parr and caused his death. Overseas visitors use to touch the tablet marking his grave in the hope of achieving similar longevity.
