Miss Finch was born October 21, 1899, in Brampton, N.D., to Jerome T. and Eva Haight Finch. She received her education in North Dakota, and following graduation attended Normal School College in Ellendale, N.D. She studied music in the East for a time before returning to North Dakota to teach school for six years. She then moved to Manhattan where she taught school for 40 years before retiring. Following her retirement Miss Finch continued to be involved in the annual Christmas programs at the school.
She was instrumental in the organization and operation of the Manhattan Senior Social center and was president of the organization for 10 years. She was also a member of the TAMS singing group for many years, and was active in the Manhattan Presbyterian Church.
Surviving relatives include her brother, Willard Finch of Manhattan; two nieces, Mrs. Sharon Weidenaar of Brandon, S.D., and Mrs. Mark (Kathy) McFadgen of Stevensville; and two nephews, Charles and Clark Finch, both of Manhattan. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and great grand-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Manhattan Bible Church. Burial will be in the Meadowview Cemetery.
