He was born June 18, 1943, in Trident, MT to Paul and Bertha (Mackey) Chesterfield. He grew up in Manhattan, MT and was a graduate of Manhattan High School. He received two bachelor degrees from Montana State University and a master's degree in Management from Webster University.
Burt served over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, first tour of duty at Wright Patterson AFB, his last tour was at Tinker AFB where he retired as a Major in 2003. He worked as a civilian at Scott AFB and later at TSI (FAA) as a Division Manager in the Aircraft Accident Investigation Division where he retired in 1998. He was awarded numerous awards including an International Award for Aircraft Safety during his career.
He was an active member of Mustang UMC.
Burt was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill. Survivors include his wife of almost 44 years, Diana, of the home; two daughters: Lisa Jill Hood and husband Larry of Dale, OK; and Kristen Michelle Christ and husband Brian of Burlington, IA; and five grandchildren, Lauren, Lacey, Landon, Morgan and Brady.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Mustang UMC, with interment to follow in the Red Hill Cemetery, Mustang, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of McNeil's Funeral Service in Mustang, Oklahoma. Online condolences may be made at www.mcneilsmustangfs.com
