Author. Known for penning young adult suspense novels, she will be remembered for her 1973 work "I Know What You Did Last Summer", which was made into a 1997 motion picture adaptation. Additionally, her penning of the novel "Who Killed My Daughter?" (1992), was the result of the real life murder of her daughter Kaitlyn in 1989. Raised in Florida, both her father and mother were famous magazine photographers, she began her interest in writing stories during her youth. She briefly attended Duke University, prior to marrying and moving to New Mexico where she received her Masters degree from the University of New Mexico. Her first novel "Debutante Hill" was published in 1958. Among her other novels include "Ransom" (1966) and "Hotel For Dogs" (1971).
