Television Producer, Screenwriter. She is best known for creating the daytime TV serials "Search for Tomorrow," "Another World," "One Life to Live," "All My Children," and "Loving." During the course of her lengthy career she received numerous Emmy Awards and nominations. Her father was a clothing manufacturer and her mother worked in the insurance industry. She was educated at Northwestern University. She began her career as a scriptwriter for the radio serial "Women in White" in 1948, prior to creating "Search for Tomorrow," which made her one of the earliest women to accomplish such a feat. She served as head writer for the series "The Guiding Light" from 1958 to 1965.
