On the evening of July 18th, at 10 o'clock, Mary J. (Adams) Greene, wife of Allen Greene, departed this life at the age of fifty-two years, nine months and four days. Her death occurred at her home on Meat Camp, where she had been for several months confined to her bed. Everything was done that lay within the power of human skill and modern medical knowledge, but all in vain.
Mary J. Adams, a daughter of Wellington and Martha Adams, was born at Sweet Water, N. C., on the fourteenth day of October, 1852, where she grew to maturity. She was married to Allen Greene, of Meat Camp, on the eleventh day of January 1877.
This union was blessed with 10 children, six boys and four girls. She departed from earth in the triumph of Chirstian faith, knowing that she was to meet her Saviour, father; mother and children gone before. She leaves behind, of her immediate family, a husband, seven children, three sisters and three brothers.
Interment took place at noon on the 20th, in the cemetery at Meat Camp Baptist church, at which place she held her membership for several years.
"We loved her, yes we loved her,
but angles loved her more,
And they have sweetly called her,
to yonders shining shore"
A Son.
