Caroline "Cork" Dye, 82, of Independence, KS passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Independence.

Celebration of Life funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Wickham Family Funeral Home of Cherryvale, 216 East 4thStreet, Cherryvale, Kansas.

Friends may sign the register book from 12 Noon until 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Interment will be held following the services at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or FORPAZ and they may be left or mailed at the funeral home.

Mildred Caroline Dye was born June 28, 1931 in Sedan, Kansas the daughter of Leo and Grace (McGill) Chrisman. She grew up in Sedan and graduated from Sedan High School in 1949. She also attended Independence Community College.

On July 24, 1949 in Coffeyville, KS she was united in marriage to Virgil M. Dye and he preceded her in death August 17, 1982.

Caroline loved to crochet and was an avid bowler. She held membership with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, FCE Night Owls, and bowled in many leagues in Coffeyville, Independence and Cherryvale.

She began working for Union Gas in 1981 as a clerk for many years retiring in the spring of 1997.

Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Riedle of Independence, KS, Kristine Yates of Springfield, MO, Ginny Dye of Houston, TX, one son, David Dye of Pittsburg, KS, two sisters, Delana Jo "Jimmie" Sanborn of Sedan, KS, Janice Chrisman of Bartlesville, OK, two brothers, Mack "Bud" Chrisman of Sedan, KS, Ross Chrisman of Augusta, KS, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Her brother, Tim Chrisman preceeded her in death in 2003.
