Clyde was the son of Edward Lee and Allie Belle (Ingram) Williams. He used to drive a delivery truck for Mr. Mohan in Brookhaven and earned the nickname "Speedy" because he was a bit "lead footed". A trait that came in handy though when he lived at McCall Creek and a neighbors child was bitten by a water moccasin and he was able to get her to the hospital in time.

Clyde was born with chronic asthma and died with a heart attack when he was only 38 years old. He never married.
