Singer, Musician. Known for his strong, soulful voice, his recording career began in 1953 with Sun Records. During the course of his 50-year career, he also recorded with Bobbin (a label he started), Chess, Stax and Malaco, releasing more than two dozen albums. His hit single, "We're Gonna Make It", which reached number one on Billboard's R&B singles chart and 25th position on the pop singles chart in 1965, was followed by a number of additional hits. While at Malaco, he debuted the song that would become his latter-day anthem and bar band staple, "The Blues Is Alright". "Little" Milton was nominated for 21 Handy Awards, was winner of six, including Blues Entertainer of the Year in 1988, the same year in which he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.
