Gospel Singer, Entertainer, Friend. He began singing at an early age and went on to sing back-up for Madame Edna Gallmon Cooke, The Five Singing Stars and The Harmonizing Four. During the early 70's he formed Tommy Ellison And The Five Singing Stars and toured the country with the best groups on the road at that time. Each hit song provided a messge to the listeners. "Let This Be A Lesson To You", "Sailing" and many others proved to be show stoppers for the popular artist. For over 60 years he carried the tradition of gospel from coast to coast. Family was important to Ellison and he would often go back home to South Carolina to visit as well as perform for the hometown folks. History will show that Tommy Ellison was a giant in the gospel field and made an important, positive impact upon the industry. After a brief illness the "Superstar" passed away and thousands attended services both in Maryland and South Carolina as he was brought back to his home church for the funeral and burial.
