Famed Gospel Singer, Entertainer, Community Charity Organizer. A great man of faith who happened to be a great gospel singer and outstanding guitar player. From 1953 until 1994 he was the other half of The Consolers. Before his wife, Sister Iola Pugh died they performed through out the land and country with a unique sound and approach to gospel that keeps them in the hearts of gospel fans even today. She sang, he played and they both shared the stage with some of the top recording artists in the music field. The first solo for Sullivan Pugh as a child was at the First Born Church Of The Living God in Miami. Appearing at the Newport Jazz Festival was just one of the venues that took The Consolers to listeners other than the normal gospel fans. Many hits would follow their careers such as "Give Me My Flowers", "May The Work I've Done Speak For Me" and many others. They were awarded with the The Florida Folk Award among many others. He remained faithful to his local church in Miami and made apperances in his 80s and Sullivan kept The Consolers Progressive Charity Club going until his death. This Organization helped the needy in the greater metro area of Miami. He was a caring citizen, he was a giant in the gospel field and a great musican in the world of music in general. United Christian Fellowship and Bethel Apostolic Temple hosted the farewell celebrations for Brother Pugh in Miami on Friday and Saturday January 7th and 8th 2010.
