His obituary provides that following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, he again retired after 20 years service with a local farm supply company. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church and the Goldsboro Optimist Club. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed grilling for community functions and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, two sons and their families; two sisters and three brothers. A son, Donald Edgerton, preceded him in death.

AN ASIDE: I was stationed with then SSgt Bob Edgerton in the early and mid 1960s. We served in the 1254th Air Police Squadron and protected the aircraft flying the U.S. President, Congressional and Cabinet Members. Bob and I flew a good number of missions together, mostly out of country. We both left the unit for new assignments in Germany about the same time. He went to Ramstein AB, and I was down the road..., so we would periodically talk. He was an outstanding NCO and true friend.
