Ovalene W. Aaron, 92, of North Vernon died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009, at the Jennings Health Care Center in North Vernon.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Mike Bartlett officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Aerie Cemetery in Letts. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Aaron moved to Indiana in 1947, formerly resided at Westport and had been a North Vernon resident since 1990. She received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Western Kentucky State University and a master's degree in guidance counseling from Butler University. She taught at Russell Springs and Owensboro high schools in Kentucky and Sandcreek High School at Westport. She was a guidance counselor at Horace Mann High School and counselor and department head at Wirt High School in Gary.

Born Oct 9, 1916, in Russell County, Ky., she was the daughter of John and Ellen Gaskin Wooten. She married Earl Aaron in 1935. He preceded her in death March 10, 1995.

She is survived by a son, John Earl Aaron of North Vernon; a granddaughter, Tamela Gail Aaron of Munford, Ala.; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Her parents and a brother, Avilee Wooten, also preceded her in death.
