"Joni Cochran, 73"

"Rachel Joan (Joni) Cochran 73, of Searsboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at 1:20 a.m. on June 29, 2011, at Integris Hospice House, Oklahoma city, OK.
She was born July 15, 1937, in Lynnville. Joni was preceded in death by her father Hoyt Wildman, mother Grace Fleener Nettleton, sister Jean Nordmeyer, and sister Judy Wildman. On Mar. 17, 1972, she married Joseph Milton (Joe) Cochran, who survives.
Joni retired from the Fairfield Unified School District. She was a teachers aide at Tolenas Elementary School where she set up and taught the first computer lab there. She traveled throughout the United States and Canada racing Whippets and made many fond friends within the association. Several years after retirement she traveled by motor home with her husband, spending most of their time in Iowa, California and Arizona. During their travels, they met many friends with whom they enjoyed a glass of wine and good conversation.
Joni is survived by her daughters, Stacy Morris of Spencer, OK, and Susan (Peter) Fracchia of Vacaville, CA: and a son, Michael (Susan) Cochran of Danville, CA; six grandchildren, Tami Jack, Jeremy Kinkade, DeLisa Fracchia, Kelly Cochran, Alyssa Cochran, and Brian Cochran; three great-grandchildren, Devin Jack, Lexi Jack, and Isabella Cochran; and her stepfather, Jim Nettleton of Greene.
At her request, no services were held. Inurnment will be in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery at a later date.
Joni will be missed by her family and the many friends she made throughout her travels across the United States. In her memory, she wanted her family and friends to think about the good times and the many laughs they shared during family visits and happy hour. Joni will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace as she makes her journey to our savior the Lord, Jesus Christ. Memorials have been designated for the American Cancer Society."
