Voice Actor, Television Host. Born Edward Jones, he attended Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, where he played in a series of bands before he found work as a disc jockey in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles before he got into acting. He appeared in the film 'The Marshal of Windy Hollow' (1972) and on television he had roles on 'The Six Million Dollar Man', 'Hill Street Blues' and the TV movie 'Captain America'. In 1973, he hosted 'Soul Unlimited', Dick Clark's short-lived all-black version of 'American Bandstand' that Clark created as an answer to 'Soul Train'. From 1973 through the late 1980s, he was a voice-actor on Hanna-Barbera's 'Super Friends', providing the voices for several characters, most notably Black Vulcan . He also gave voice to characters on other animated series such as 'Defenders of the Earth', 'The Super Globetrotters', 'Captain Planet and the Planeteers', 'The New Batman Adventures', 'The Transformers', 'G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero', 'The Real Ghostbusters' and 'Extreme Ghostbusters'.
