Her distinctive speaking style provided the voice for a large range of animated characters, with her best known as the voice of the title character in the 1995 film 'Babe'. Her break into show business came in 1991 when she brought Gosalyn Waddlemeyer-Mallard from 'Darkwing Duck' to life. That same year, she gave voice to Chuckie Finster on the Nickelodeon cartoon series 'Rugrats'. She went on to voice characters in 'Raw Toonage', 'Gramps', 'Recycle Rex', 'Sonic the Hedgehog', 'A Flintstone Family Christmas', 'Aaahh!!! Real Monsters', 'Aladdin' and 'Beethoven' before lending her voice to the live-action film 'Babe' in the starring role. Among other cartoons she could be heard in were 'Dexter's Laboratory', '101 Dalmatians: The Series', 'Cave Kids', 'King of the Hill', 'Unbeatable Harry', 'Hercules: The Animated Series', 'The Powerpuff Girls', 'The Wild Thornberrys' and 'The Brothers Flub'. She also guest starred on several TV shows including 'Salute Your Shorts', 'Empty Nest', 'Herman's Head', 'The X-Files', 'Everybody Loves Raymond' and 'ER' and had supporting roles in the feature films 'Soulmates' (1992) and 'Jerry Maguire' (1996). Cavanaugh, who was divorced and had no children, retired from voice acting in 2001.
