Colonel James T. Bacon, as he was known, was a unique and interesting personality. Editor of the 'Edgefield Advertiser' and later the 'Edgefield Chronicle'. He wrote in an original and individualistic style and his writings are quoted often by older Edgefieldins. He was a gifted musician and was organist for Trinity Episcopal Church for many years. He never married. His mother was Mrs. Sarah Bacon Wigfall, who grave adjoins his. (Addenda, p. 70f).
