Herbert E. Baker, 66, for forty years a resident of Manhattan, for four years an alderman of the city, died of heart trouble at his home Saturday night, March 19. Funeral services will be held at the Masonic home in Manhattan Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock, and interment will be in the Meadow View cemetery southeast of Manhattan.

Herbert Eason Baker was born November 29, 1865, at Richfield Springs, Otsego County, New York. He came to the Gallatin valley in March 1892, and was married December 27, 1894, to Miss Jessie A. Curtis at Manhattan, and they have since made their home in Manhattan, running a hotel there for several years, and for many years engaged in farming, their farm adjoining the city of Manhattan. He was a member of the Manhattan Masonic Lodge and was highly esteemed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his widow and by one son Harold Baker of Manhattan. Three brothers, Howard, Herman and Homer Baker, and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Eason and Mrs. Alma Starr, all live in Richfield Springs, New York.
