The daughter of Elbert H. and Estella "Stella" Wiggins Humble, Esther Louise was born March 19, 1918 at Nelagoney, OK, joining older brother, Jimmie. She was a bright little girl and enjoyed playing with her brother. When they would play Hide and Seek, before he could find her she would pop out and say, "Here I is, Bubby!" She had a little toy car and when anyone else would try to ride it she would say, "You old 'marty thing, that's my kiddy car!" Her father referred to her as their "darling."

Sadly, just before her second birthday a scarlet fever epidemic hit Elkhart, where the family was living at the time. Both children became ill, with Jimmie recovering after a week or so. Little Louise continued to suffer with the fever and died in her father's arms on March 31, 1920. Her cousin, Earl - also two years old - died on the following day. The two little cousins were buried together in a double grave.
