William Dunbar was a soldier in War of 1812, Under Capt. Kyle and Capt.Hannah's 4th VA Militia. The regiment was known as the "Flying Camp". He enlisted in Fincastle, Botetourt County, VA on the 17th day of July 1813,
serving six months as a private - Rifleman, honorably discharged at Richmond, VA about December 1813.

Married 12/30/1819 Botetourt Co., VA.
