On June 2, 1951 he married the love of his life, Edith Annette Robinson of St. Matthews, SC. He spent his childhood growing up in rural Orangeburg County, SC. He was an exceptionally good furniture and auto upholsteror. He was a great father and family man.

Orangeburg – Services for L. Laverne Davis, Sr., 70, of 1338 Springdale St. will be held at 4 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Faith Promise Fund of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Davis died Saturday, May 23, 1992. Born in Norway, he was a son of the late Luther Edgar and Maggie Rowell Davis. An Army veteran of World War II, he retired as owner and operator of Davis Trim Shop and was a member of Friday Morning Men's Breakfast and Bible Study Group and a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Edith Robinson Davis; a daughter, Carol Davis of Orangeburg; a son, Leland Davis, Jr. of Orangeburg; brothers, Welborne Davis Sr. of Orangeburg and Cecil Davis of Liberal, KS; and sisters, Mildred Boltin and Marian Kennemore, both of Orangeburg.
