On April 26, 1952 Webb married the love of his life, Jewell Aliene Robinson of St. Matthews, SC. He grew up in rural Orangeburg County, SC. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service in Orangeburg, SC. He was an avid fisherman. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

ORANGEBURG - Funeral services for Welborne Faxon "Webb" Davis Sr., 79, of Orangeburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Barry L. Jenkins and the Rev. Dr. Thomas B. Huggins officiating. Burial will be in West End Cemetery. Mr. Davis died Sunday, Feb. 6, at The Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg.

He was born July 1, 1925, in Norway, a son of the late Luther Edgar Davis and Maggie Rowell Davis. He was a retired letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon and a member of the Good News Sunday School class. Mr. Davis served as a former scout master of Troop No. 345 Boy Scouts of America. He was a U.S. Army Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jewell Robinson Davis, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Wayne Davis (Sheryl), of St. Matthews and Welborne F. Davis Jr. (Jean), of St. Matthews; a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Greg C. (Shellie) Ackerman, of Varnville; seven grandchildren, Mrs. William Lamar (Jana) Porter III, of Jamison, Robert Benjamin and Mark Edgar Davis, of St. Matthews, Amanda Jill and Yuri Nickolas Davis, of St. Matthews, Johnathan Carter and Ashleigh Lynn Ackerman, of Varnville; and one great-grandson, William Lamar Porter IV of Jamison.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 650 Summers Ave., Orangeburg SC 29115; Boy Scouts of America; or to a charity of one's choice.
