Confederate Soldier: Joined Captain Taylor's Company of Cavalry; Courier with General Robert E Lee; last living soldier who witnessed the burning of Columbia, SC (See The History of SC by Yates Snowden & Harry Gardner Cutler, 1920)

Lawyer; lived in Ridge Spring, SC and then moved to Columbia.

There is a street which crosses Merritt St in Ridge Spring, SC called "Booker Street". One of the residents(Mr. Platt) informed me that when the street sign was replaced, instead of Brooker, it was replaced with Booker. This street was named for Norton W Brooker.

From Anna O'Quinn Ritcher: Concern for destitute Confederate Veterans led Mr. Brooker to form the Confederate Soldiers' Relief Association of SC, which sought to help "Veterans of the Confederate Cause who are destitute and infirm and in absolute want for the necessities of life and clothing."
