He answered God’s call to come home on Monday, December 3, 2007. A lifelong resident of the West Columbia area, he was the son of the late Henry W. and Lydia C. Anderson. The love of his life was his wife, Margie Martin Anderson. He and Margie were married on June 12, 1948. An Army veteran, he served in Korea during World War II. He continued his public service after the Army working as a civilian employee at Fort Jackson. He, along with many of his friends, was a volunteer firefighter with the West Columbia Fire Department. This volunteer service began a lifetime of municipal employment and service. When the opportunity came, he left the fort and went to work at the Cayce Police Department, serving as a Patrolman and Shift Leader until he accepted the position of Fire Chief of the West Columbia Fire Department. He served as Fire Chief from 1966 until 1975. At this time, he transferred back to the Police Department as a Desk Sergeant until his retirement in 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Margie M. Anderson, children and their spouses, Cindy A. Baker (Andy), and H. Barry Anderson (Cindi); five grandchildren, Kimberly Rippy, Jennifer Baker Shaw, Stephanie Baker Vernon, Lauren A. Swicegood, and Steven Anderson; five great-grandchildren, Hannah Rippy, Jackson Rippy, Dylan Shaw, Brayden Vernon and Emme Vernon. He is also survived by his sister, Mildred Robinson. He was predeceased by his parents, his Step-Father, Zellie Ellisor and a sister, Dorothy Cauley.
