Services for Julius D. Amaker, 71, of Rt. 1 Box 137, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jack Poole officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home's temporary facility, 161 Elliott St., Orangeburg. The casket will be placed in the church an hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Piano Fund or to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Rockville, MD 20582.

Mr. Amaker died Thursday, March 23, 2000 at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Calhoun Co., he was a son of the late John B. Amaker and Luxora Zeigler Amaker. He was retired from the South Carolina Army National Guard following 28 years of active service. He was a member, former Sunday School Superintendent and Chairman of the Administration Board of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Gloria Hooker Amaker; daughter, Elizabeth Darnell Amaker of Swansea; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond Davis Amaker, MD and Barbara Hill Amaker, MD of Richmond, Va.; brother, William D. Amaker of Columbia.
