He died in the Springdale Health Care Facility. He grew up in Hickory Grove. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Erskine and a Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina. He served Florence for over 35 years as the pharmacist at Dixon Drugs until his retirement. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Florence until the decline of his health.

He was a son of the late John P. and Emily Strong Wylie Allison. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Cecile Allison-Ard and James Ard of Columbia; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny P. Jr. and Mary Lynn Allison of Evergreen Community; grandsons, Trae Allison of Columbia and Chase Allison of Evergreen Community. He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice C. Allison Weaver and sister, Margaret Mobley, formerly of Kershaw.
