Born on April 17, 1921 in Ft. Motte, he was a son of the late Leroy L. Arant, Sr. and Naomi Cann Arant, and was the widower of Grace Inabinet Arant. He attended Clemson University three years and volunteered for Pilot training in the US Army Air Corps. He attained the rank of Captain and flew B 29 Bombers in the Pacific theatre during World War II. Following his military service, Mr. Arant worked as a grain buyer for Continental Grain Corp. He was a member of Cameron United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of Elks Lodge Number 897. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Cindy (Rick) Roe of Ft. Motte, and Mrs. Maxine (Jack) Maynard of Columbia; two grandsons, Ashley (Shannon) Martin of Chapin, and Edwin Roe of Irmo; great-grandchildren, Whitley Martin and Justin Martin, both of Chapin; and a special friend, Ms. Mitzi Hutto of Orangeburg.
